Eager-to-please young Americans (mostly women) getting paid to write anti-US content - Correspondent RT TV Employee Review

Pros

Salary is far and above what most people under 30 expect to be paid working in journalism. At first, there is freedom to do the stories you love -- as long as they make the US look bad. For the internationally-minded, there is little focus on local news, and RTTV does attempt to look at bigger picture, international issues.

Cons

Management is entirely Russian, and nepotism is fierce. For example, the business manager's nephew has to approve all costs. All of the staff, however, are mostly young, inexperienced Americans who are eager to please. Management takes advantage of that attitude and pushes people beyond their comfort zone to report the truth that is most convenient to the Kremlin. Very high turnover, and little opportunities for professional development. A place to stop, get some good clips for a reel, and get out of.

Pros

Great staff for the most part, pay far above industry average, constant opportunities for growth, modern studio and equipment, wide ranging coverage of domestic and international stories.

Cons

Management needs to address HR and other problems more quickly and aggressively when they come up.
