Pros

-More jobs -Get the initial clearance -Benefits, expectations, and work load similar to the other major defense industry players -Being in defense gives you the opportunity to participate in a more significant way to the nation than other industries.

Cons

-Not specific to Raytheon, but benefits and compensation are lackluster, which are typical defense contractor characteristics -Most of the points I'll touch on are essentially universally echoed by all of the other reviews and anecdotes you'll hear from other people in defense...mainly, it's a very old school, conservative type of industry. -Emphasis on seniority versus performance. Don't get me wrong, high performers do get higher raises, but we're talking about a percentage point or two. -Raytheon Six Sigma = An attempt to synergize energy, processes, and life cycle developments in order to obtain higher orders of efficiencies within core competencies via utilization of kaizens, lean sigma concepts, and fundamental corporate culture. I can't fit any more jargon into that sentence...In other words, Six Sigma = do what you're doing, but do it better. -Due to the previous point on emphasizing seniority versus performance, there are a number of incompetent middle managers (to be fair, this is not specific to Raytheon; the rest of the major defense contractors are in the same boat)

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
