Pros

As a Technical English Language Instructor the salary is above average for similar positions in this country, in-country health insurance is also very good and its personnel are helpful with respect to acquiring a driver's license, expediting visa requirements, paying bonuses promptly, etc. As well, Raytheon provides housing (of varied quality) in a secure (compound) community, gives a shared vehicle for work and free time, has recreational facilities and resort beach accesses, and has a reputation for being one of the better places to live in Jeddah (however there are better places to reside). SALTS always pays its employees on time; which can be a big plus when one considers some of the stories a person hears. Expenses are low and it is a great way to save money while chipping away at one's financial goals. Healthcare coverage outside of Saudi Arabia is extremely poor.

Cons

The institute (people's opinion and common knowledge) has an extremely disorganized and unprofessional military leading us, recruits extremely lazy, undisciplined and unmotivated cadets, its IT staff is dysfunctional to non-existent at best, while both Raytheon and SALTS appear completely disinterested and/or incapable of impacting positive programmatic change; while doing nothing to encourage and promote employee motivation, satisfaction or retention.

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
