Pros

- Decent pay in a low-cost city. - Smart people in many roles. - Defense industry isn't wanting for money. - Overtime past 40 hours can be paid at 1x for exempt roles (if your program and supervisor aren't stingy, but many are). - Paid week off between Christmas and New Years.

Cons

- Way too much process where you don't want it, far too little where you do. - Tech infrastructure is lagging years behind modern tech industry, and the company hasn't fully embraced the fact that it needs to be keeping up in order to thrive. - Work hard and your annual raise still barely keeps up with inflation. - Work/life balance can be terrible, depending on your program. - Customer-is-always-right mentality from management, even when the customer makes unreasonable demands of the engineers. - No separate sick leave, so everyone comes in sick to not burn PTO. - Underperforming co-workers tend to stick around. - Very employer-friendly timekeeping. - Not seeing any of that corporate tax cut that the CEO keeps bragging to us about.

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
