Pros

Good salary, benefits, flexibility. Reasonable talent development programs for college hires.

Cons

While Raytheon Corp and other divisions may actually "live" the promoted values and behaviors, the culture at IDS does not. The old boys network reigns supreme. On the surface it appears that they are following the mantra but scratch a bit and you find the 25 year men don't want things to change. The DO like to hire experienced professionals that they dangle carrots in front of to keep them working hard while they sit on their butts and do nothing. If you are innovative in your approach to problem solving at all, do not work here! They like to respond to issue with the same old tired solutions and if you promote a new way of dealing with issues you will quickly find yourself on the bottom of the heap for making a good old boy look bad. Some may call this corporate politics but honestly its just too many lifers are deeply invested in keeping the status quo until they retire. While corporate has an annual diversity summit where they discuss culture and diversity of thought, nobody at IDS really gets it and corporate does nothing to change it at IDS. Neither Swanson or Kennedy care as long as they get their salary and bonus. Behind closed doors they like to blame the unions but at the end of they day it's the 25 year middle aged white guys running the place and that's how they like it.

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
