Pros

Good employee scholar program, allowing you to get a relevant degree paid for by RTX.

Cons

This company feels like it’s 1982. For example: my boss told me I wasn’t a team player because I wouldn’t attend a happy hour scheduled over Rosh Hashanah and major meetings were repeatedly scheduled over major Jewish holidays. This company claims to care about DE&I but not if you’re Jewish, clearly. Good Friday is a company holiday but not MLK Jr day? Actually being able to get things done is hampered by completely dysfunctional systems. For example, IT support has seemingly been outsourced to DXC, which often results in losing entire work days due to their inability to fix even simple matters. HR is an utter disaster. I recently left the company, properly putting my resignation into Workday (and informing my boss) 2.5 weeks in advance of my last day. HR didn’t send me certain documents required for my exit until after my last day had passed and they require me to print them out, physically sign, and scan back to send. What’s next, are they going to make me fax something? Benefits - beyond the employee education reimbursement - are bottom of the barrel quality but really expensive. The physical workspaces are outdated, often dirty with broken equipment. We literally don’t have chairs.

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
