Pros
Rackhams is a really exciting place to work if you enjoy being part of a growing, modern retailer that still values heritage and quality. The business is in a strong period of digital transformation, so there’s plenty of opportunity to shape new ideas and make a real impact.
As Head of Web and Creative, I’ve had the chance to work on diverse projects – from refining online customer journeys and optimising UX to evolving the overall brand identity and creative direction. The pace is dynamic but collaborative; teams are supportive and genuinely care about producing great work. Senior leadership is open to new ideas, and there’s a lot of trust given to people who take initiative.
There’s also a good work-life balance, flexible working options, and an emphasis on results over presenteeism. The culture is friendly, ambitious, and less corporate than you might expect, which makes it easy to feel part of the journey.
Cons
Because the company is evolving so quickly, priorities can shift fast. That means you need to be adaptable and comfortable with some ambiguity. Processes are still being refined as the business scales, so it sometimes takes extra effort to bring structure and consistency.
It’s a great environment for self-starters, but might feel challenging for those who prefer very rigid systems or slow-paced environments.
