Pros

• Really enjoyed the colleagues I worked with • Very grateful for some of the opportunities my manager presented to me • Great exposure to the recruitment industry • In general, the higher up managers/directors are approachable and seem very genuine

Cons

• Training very unstructured, even when in training I was expected to know all of the answers.. I’m sure the whole point of training is to teach me those? • Was constantly expected to teach myself everything and learn from my mistakes, when I did make mistakes I'd then get hounded my manager, not really fair when I've not been taught what do? • Management was brutal, in my time months working there I was consistently above or hitting my targets but was made to feel like it still wasn’t good enough due to the team not performing as well as they should • Turnover was ridiculously high • Poor team morale, at times you could feel the negative atmosphere in the team when the manager was present • Salary was low, I do appreciate the fact that this may have been due to lacking experience but during my time I billed almost double my salary, yet was only given a small pay rise (grateful for the pay rise, but almost demeaning when it is reflected against the billings I brought in) • Manager tried to rule the team with fear, talking down to me and my colleagues in front of other teams • Miss-sold the job, during my interview I was told that being a recruitment isn't a 'sales job', couple of months later my manager said it was a sales job. • At times I felt other colleagues were clearly favored to others, with the favored ones allowed to stroll in late at times with no issue, however when the lesser favored colleagues were not at least 5/10 minutes EARLY this was an issue? • Had no relationship with my manager, unless it was to discuss figures my manager wasn't really interested • Being that I was so inexperienced and so was many members of my team I imagined that I could lean on my manager more when looking for advice, but whenever I asked anything I immediately regretted it • Very stressful, even on days off I was thinking about work • Was made to feel like I was worthless at times • 1-1 monthly meetings were shocking • Probation review/meeting was brutal even though I was overall ahead of target

Randstad Response

Hi, thanks for the detailed review, and I'm really saddened and frustrated to hear this... The values we have at Randstad are very clear, and our culture is not what you describe at all, so I'm very keen to hear more. The behaviour you have described is totally unacceptable, so I would very much like to discuss this further. Please can you contact me at graham.trevor@randstad.co.uk

Pros

Loved my team. My Manager was incredibly supportive, understand, and always rooting for myself as well as my teammate's success. Remote work was highly flexible and accommodating.

Cons

Pay was a little low and you don't get paid for holidays in your probationary period but there's growth opportunities after 6 months of employment.

Pros

Recruiter was responsive at first, and the team I spoke with at the client company seemed professional and genuinely kind.

Cons

Here’s a more detailed “Cons” you can use and tweak: Cons: I went all the way through onboarding for a contract role, spent a full day last week chasing down and uploading sensitive documents (including my passport), and was told I’d be starting this week. Then, at the last minute, I got a single text saying I “didn’t pass” a third‑party ID check — with no explanation of what supposedly failed and no formal notice or report to review. As an American citizen using a valid passport, it’s really disturbing to have a job pulled over an opaque automated screening and to be told “other factors” were flagged without anyone willing or able to say what they were. Even after repeatedly asking, I was given no more than a generic privacy policy and bounced between contacts, which feels extremely careless with my time, my livelihood, and the very private identity data they collected. Best‑practice guidance for background checks says candidates should get clear written notice and a chance to understand or dispute issues before a job is taken away; that absolutely did not happen here.
