Pros

The development team is trusted to own the code and make technical decisions. There have been interesting projects over the last year and more on the roadmap. The dev manager is committed to improving our product and making sure the team has enough time to get projects done, and team-driven process improvement efforts are fully supported. The company as a whole is full of smart, hardworking people.

Cons

The company is going through some growing pains. There was quite a bit of turnover leaving some teams understaffed, and some management politics that we're thankfully shielded from. There are often more projects than people, which can lead to some prioritization issues.

Pros

- Relaxed, calm and creative environment to learn new technologies and expand your knowledge and expertise - Modern tech stack with smart, thoughtful and wise senior developers - Soft deadline approach gives developers ample time to do the best work they possibly can do without feeling much stress and pressure from management - Great company to start out as a junior developer or a developer that wants to ride out their career until retirement

Cons

Although there are many pros to working at rational, no company is perfect. There have been many closed door conversations from management that senior developers are not included in. There have been multiple "uprisings" I have witnessed from passionate senior developers that stirred up the worst in them and had to leave the company. Some also have chosen to continue to work there with a horrible attitude. I believe that management lacks EQ when is comes to leadership positions but everything is a learning experience and we are all human beings.
