Pros

You get to work with a lot of really smart and nice people, who take care of each other. If you’re good at playing people games, you can basically do anything you like that has the slightest of business sense. Nice balance between work and rest of life.

Cons

The top management is lost and the company doesn’t have a vision or direction. There’s a lot of ambitious high level talk but the action is more or less body shopping. There’s a lot of hubris around Reaktor being unique or the best of its class. This is not true; they’re basically building web forms for corporate clients. Regardless, this is reflected in somewhat low compensation levels, which means you get only a fraction of your billing as salary while the importance of immaterial benefits and the community is grossly overvalued in salary negotiations.

Reaktor Response

Thank you so much for taking the time to write feedback and voice your concerns about the company’s direction. I’m glad to hear that you have enjoyed the community and people at Reaktor – they form the core of everything we do. A healthy work-life balance is also something we try our best to foster. As an ambitious and autonomous company, we’ve definitely had our fair share of growing pains. Therefore, I totally see where you’re coming from with your critique of the unclear vision. Our newly defined strategy aims to help with just that: we are currently (and continuously) building processes to bring structure and direction to our work as a rapidly growing, global company without losing our entrepreneurial culture. About compensation: we put a lot of effort into ensuring that our salaries and other benefits are competitive and equitable. Reaktor Finland did a thorough salary analysis just recently and we are constantly fine-tuning our compensation to suit the market and people’s needs. In addition to the community and other benefits, such as extensive healthcare, child care, and hobbies, we also issue shares to all our employees. If you have any more feedback or insights about the way you’d like to see Reaktor led, don’t hesitate to send me a message – anonymously or otherwise! It would be nice to hear more about your experience. Thanks again. Have a lovely autumn, Aini, Talent Growth Lead

Pros

People are truly helping each other rather than competing or politicking or backstabbing. An extremely collaborative and caring environment that allows you to do some really interesting work with super smart people.

Cons

Some instability in the past couple of years that was addressed with changes in leadership. Not all of these changes were handled or communicated well. The shift to hybrid work has not been without issues, which is probably true to all companies. As any consulting company, one partially inherits the structures of the client organization and being a consultant is both a blessing and a curse; it allows you to do things the locals are not allowed to do, and to avoid some of the structures and internal politics. At the same time you are expected to do more and be better and more productive.
