Pros
I loved working with the elderly and hearing their stories and got quite attached to many. I enjoyed many of my coworkers as well and developed quite a few friendships, as I was there for over 10 years.
Cons
The management is horrible!!!!!! When I started back in 2007, it was a wonderful place to work. In the past 5 years or so, it has consistently gone downhill. They expect you to put them 1st and you and your family 2nd. Things happen beyond our control, and sometimes people have to miss work or leave from time to time. Children get sick at school or you yourself may be sick, but don't expect them to care!! They would rather you come in sick and get everybody else sick, including the residents there, than to call out. It's a shame that the older generation rely on these places to be ran properly, and you never know the things that go on inside, until you work there and see it for yourself. Its really a shame.
