Pros

- The campus grounds are beautiful - Students, in general, are great to work with - Family atmosphere among staff members - Facilities management, dining services, and athletic staff were some of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of seeing each day.

Cons

My time here was so stressful, mentally and emotionally damaging that it gave me anxiety. Staff are expected to over-produce with no reward or recognition. I understand it's a small school, however, I was doing the work of 4-5 positions while being paid an unlivable wage for one position. Which brings me to the work-life balance. Depending on which department you're in, there is none. Leadership does not listen to the staff and we're instead, reprimanded for asking for more support. There is no consistency or clarity on policies, which makes it difficult to effectively do your job. Some staff and faculty could also benefit from implicit bias training. A certain demographic of students and staff constantly experienced microaggressions and insensitive comments from other staff and faculty and leadership swept it under the rug.

Pros

Supportive HR Department: HR leadership is compassionate, approachable, and genuinely cares about staff well-being. Positive Campus Community: The broader university community—faculty, staff, and students—is friendly and collaborative. Beautiful Campus & Mission: The university’s setting and commitment to education and service are admirable. Opportunities to Get Involved: There are fun campus traditions and community events that make you feel connected.

Cons

Toxic Department Culture: My department became an unhealthy and stressful work environment under upper leadership. Retaliation & Bullying: Reports of being publicly humiliated, denied PTO, and blamed for others’ mistakes; when issues were reported, retaliation followed instead of resolution. Lack of Direction & Follow-Through: Upper leadership often started projects with enthusiasm but never saw them through. Micromanagement & Double Standards: Rules and expectations were inconsistent and seemed to shift frequently, leading to burnout and a lack of trust. Never matched Retirement Plan Limited professional growth opportunities.
