Pros

Routine schedule day in day out, full benefits and a great 401K, Free Turkey delivered on Thanksgiving, great staff, overtime all the time

Cons

Members were unhappy, coworkers nice but unhappy, frequent communication breakdowns between Operation Department and Management and the other departments. After working the for over 8 years, the company merged and my department was moved from Sun Valley to Santa Fe Springs (Whittier area). The position was too far from my residence. The 50 or more inbound calls per day were easy but the complaints never stopped and at one point I no longer believed in the company.

Pros

The pay is competitive, especially with overtime opportunities, and there is strong potential to earn a solid income for employees willing to work hard. The job also provides steady work and consistent hours, which can be valuable for drivers looking for financial stability.

Cons

The work/life balance for roll-off drivers can be difficult, particularly when working weekends. Drivers are often scheduled in a way that keeps hours under 60 while still requiring Saturday work, rather than being given an additional recovery day during the week. With the level of physical labor involved, one day off is often not enough to properly recover. There is also a heavy emphasis on “swinging” containers. While swings can make sense when locations are far apart, many are scheduled for stops that are very close together and provide little operational benefit. Swings add significantly more physical labor for drivers and, in some cases, can actually take longer than traditional service methods. Over time, consistently working 55–60 hour weeks under these conditions can lead to fatigue and burnout.
