Pros

Org - Experienced, passionate, talented, collaborative leadership team with a history of success in game development - 100% focus on designing and developing a high performing and fun game for a target audience, rather than ego or politics - Great place for bright and driven up-and-comers to learn a ton and find their super powers Culture - We laugh. A lot. Memes, emojis, gifs, funny faces, knife-sharp puns: we haz them. We lovez them - It's positive humor. No punching down or making feel uncomfortable in their own skin allowed - That said, there's a razor sharp focus on productivity - Strong sense of the company's core mission that informs everything we do Office - Amazing location. Shopping, restaurants, groceries, the beach, all right there - Whatever productivity tools or ergonomics you need Benefits & Salary - Comprehensive and competitive

Cons

Expectations (This isn't a con for me, but it might be a deterrent for some people.) - This isn't a place where you can blend into the drapes. The expectation is that you bring the goods: the passion, the dedication, the ideas AND the follow through, the love for the player. It's a foundational time in the company, and the culture is clear that there's no room for people not to be making marked contributions to the product and the culture - There's zero room for ego, here. If you can't check yours at the door, you're gonna have a bad time. We trust our people as experts in their field, but we also trust them to be collaborative and to view it positively if someone else veers into your lane a bit or others want to grow by understanding why you make the decisions you do.

Pros

-The team at Robin are some of the most talented people I’ve had the pleasure to work with. Collectively, our team members have an incredibly impressive streak of successful game development. Crazy exciting to be contributing to a new genre of gaming and exploring really unique & sophisticated content. -Allows for “sky's the limit” levels of creativity. Leadership encourages thinking big and there is a collaborative effort between departments to achieve our goals. Coming from a different professional background than game development, I thoroughly enjoy learning from my coworkers and adding to my skill set. -Amazing company culture with many avenues to build co working relationships virtually (ie, happy hours and monthly team events, weekly board game lunches, Q&A’s with relevant speakers, frequent 1:1s, various Slack groups surrounding our unique interests like pets, plant care, music and astrology!) -Unlimited PTO & full benefits! Side note: I feel really fortunate to have joined a team that has handled the impacts of the pandemic so thoughtfully. Although we are fully virtual, there has never been a lack of communication or connection during these difficult times.

Cons

While it may not exactly be a “con” it’s important to know that startups, by nature, always have their challenges - there are moments where you will be expected to quickly adapt & rise to (creatively) overcome choppy waters. We have BIG ideas and goals, and since we’re still a smaller-scale team, we often have to embrace our multifaceted talents to achieve these goals. For some, (including myself) this type of working environment is exciting. For others, it can be stressful, and may not be a great fit.
