Cons
The firm recently onboarded a new EXCO who brought in their ex-team and proceeded to change and remodel the way things work in the department without even trying to understand how the business works. Ultimately, this new management then decided to close down a remote office citing a change in business direction but in actual fact, it was due to them being unable to manage a satellite office in a different region and time zone (the irony of a global tech firm). The retrenchment process was less than desirable, and the months from before the announcement up till the final days were nothing but anxiety and stress-inducing as the entire process was handled atrociously (retrenchment packages were even miscommunicated!). You can even say they had no proper processes in place at all. The management also tried to hire replacement staff in the NYC office behind everyone's back (where the new management team is based) even before the retrenchment was announced. Upon being confronted, they feigned ignorance and were caught lying their way out of the confrontation by the team. They were then forced to bring forward the retrenchment announcement. The EXCO then delivered the retrenchment news and it lasted no more than 5 minutes, which further dehumanised and reinforced that this new management only treats their staff as mere numbers on a spreadsheet. The firm prides itself on its employee satisfaction and remuneration fairness, but the employees were all let go with substandard retrenchment packages when benchmarked against other reputable tech firms.
