Pros

They will provide training on the job as necessary, such as learning how to ingest in MCR, paying for training to learn Cymraeg for non-Welsh speaking staff. All staff and freelancers are warm and friendly, I enjoy coming to the office and their is a culture of strong women in senior positions with busy lives outside of work, allowing for working from home where necessary, creating a good work life balance with 9-5 hours normally kept for Production and Editorial staff with some variation for Post-Production staff, with the occasional overnight shift or 8am start - with a 4pm finish. There are plenty of opportunities to progress. There is a Welfare Officer who is associated with 6Foot From the Spotlight, who is absolutely brilliant. There are opportunities for some staff to travel for work, including abroad.

Cons

Job descriptions and clear boundaries in terms of individual responsibility can be lax. They do pay less compared to other employers and in terms of culture, openly discussing rates and pay is discouraged. It can feel opaque in that sense. Compared to other local companies, staff benefits are unclear or non-existent. Company policies are not easily accessible either, which creates a little unease.
