Pros

Opportunities to learn new things very often. Snacks and arcade machines are good to help clear your mind when facing a challenging problem. Fast growth of the company.

Cons

Salary is low. Health benefits are good, but bonuses and raises are lacking. Management can be insulting and condescending at times, which can (and has) created somewhat of a hostile work environment. No real privacy or separation of employees. No clear progression path for employees. Many employees have left the company due to being unhappy, and they never seem to get replaced. This causes employees to be over-tasked.

Pros

Something new can be thrown at me every single day (and has been many, many times during my internship), which results in getting tons of experience in a really wide range of systems, services, and concepts. The people at Rook are great people, and teamwork is a very regular and natural thing here. The internship pays well, and as a full-time student I've found that they're very flexible with the work schedule of students. In the time I've had this internship, I've been able to successfully apply nearly every single concept I've learned through four years of higher education, in addition to constantly learning new things. For those that can handle the pressure, I completely believe that this is an excellent internship that I'm sure will lead to many great opportunities in the future.

Cons

It can be really challenging to have to pick up, learn, and become a professional in so many different areas in a sometimes unrealistic amount of time. While the experience is great, sometimes it can be very overwhelming and turn into a massive amount of stress. This sometimes makes the balance between life and work difficult to manage. The environment can be stressful sometimes, and not everyone can handle that type of situation. Most of the employees are also interns, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I would like seeing more full-time employees compared to mostly interns.
