Cons
I worked for R8G POLAND SP. Z O. O. under Dragons Lake (AAA games division) - the company misleaded me that I would be paid for my internship. During the penultimate interview I was told by a HR internship head (who departed the company before I began my internship) that I would be paid 250 USD / mo., receivable at the end of contract, which lasted 6.5 months. After I completed the internship, however, it turned out the company never intended to pay, even though I received a certificate of completion - the contract used a misleading (also - illegal under polish law) clause under which the company was only to pay out the renumeration after being (possibly!) hired for a further position, after a month of further employment. With the added knowledge after the fact from my lawyer, the following applies: the form of employment was mandate contract, under which, not only is the employer required to pay out compensation monthly unless EXPLICITLY stated, but if the term of contract is longer than one month, minimal pay applies (which was about 900 USD about that time in Poland). Thus, this conduct by Room 8 Group Poland was not only shady, but illegal. To add insult to injury, after receiving a request for payment from my lawyer (around August 22), the company deleted all archived internship offers stating "we pay" from the Dragons Lake internships website (archived by wayback machine - on 25 Aug 2024 - and some years previous, the offers are present, on 11 Sep 2024 they're gone). TLDR: I worked for a quarter of minimal wage, which wasn't even paid out in the end.
