Pros
This has been my "foot in the door" opportunity for adjunct teaching. I started six years ago and I absolutely love everything about it - my department, my department chair, how I'm treated, the classes I'm offered, the support I get when I need advice or insight on how to deal with a situation, the pay (lower than other universities, but higher than county colleges) and the students
Cons
Rowan structures their adjuncts like part-time employees, so you get paid every two weeks. This is great until you want to apply for a regular, non-teaching part-time job at Rowan and can't get it because the two "part time" jobs would bump you up too many hours. Other universities structure their adjunct pay to give stipends and don't consider adjuncts part-timers, so they avoid this situation.
