Pros

- You can really focus on your science if you enjoy the silence of nature - Beautiful landscapes - Very good research facilities - Top science - Awesome fieldwork - As new policies take place there's hope for the NIOZ in 5 to 10 years

Cons

- Expensive to rent and live (tourism) - Bad student accommodations - Low care for PhD development. The main focus of the institute is sea-going and not forming strong scientists. - Overwork and fear culture in some groups - Diversity and inclusion driven by NWO and delayed by NIOZ management - If you don't fit in, the isolation of the workplace can be a huge factor.
