Pros
-Incredible people. It's an honor to get to work alongside some of the talent that this company attracts, and it makes showing up to work fun. -Hybrid or Fully-Remote work environment (depending on role). -Work / Life Balance : Lots of flexibility and understanding that life comes first - PTO is valued by all levels of leadership and encouraged. Many parents working at home and often kids running into the frame during meetings. Pretty much, as long as you're performing and getting your work done well, leadership is pretty understanding. -Very competitive benefits / Fair pay. -I've never witnessed a more transparent leadership team. Mid-Level Management is super involved in trying to monitor company health and solve problems in real time, and the leadership team will share everything down to the specifics of the balance sheet with anyone who is interested.
Cons
I understand some of the reviews below, especially regarding the challenges the C-Suite has faced with growing pains, particularly in the post-Covid landscape. Unfortunately, some not-perfect decisions resulted in layoffs, which understandably left some people feeling hurt. As someone relatively new to the company and relying mostly on second-hand stories, I think those feelings are valid. However, drawing from my past experiences, I can confidently say that many of the challenges the company has faced are not unique—especially in recent years. I hope that the more dramatic reviews here don't dissuade potential candidates who could have a great experience at Ruffwear as part of their career journey. If I had read those reviews before joining, I might have been hesitant, and I’m so glad I didn't let that influence my decision. Compared to most corporate environments, Ruffwear is an amazing place to work. Like any job, there will always be challenges and annoyances, but I genuinely enjoy coming to work here more than I have in most of my past roles. The only real con I have is that since it is a small company, growth opportunities are limited once you get to a certain level. But, I really respect how hard HR has been working to try to define those in an equitable way, and I understand that at a certain point, the company size does define this. And no, HR did not ask me to write this review. So goofy.
