Pros
I worked with some of the smartest, most passionate and creative people you'll ever meet. They made coming to work every day fun and interesting.
Cons
When technical people are promoted to management because of those abilities, and they're not properly trained, the result can be disastrous. Training is available, but not all managers take it, or they do take it and forget everything. I received little guidance and mentoring from my manager. Good thing I'm a self-starter.
