Pros

Expenses for food & transport where covered.

Cons

SB Overseas is a non professional NGO in Belgium which is advertising positions for a non existing team. Pay attention when recruited, they sell positions they do not really have. Once you have been selected for the position you have applied for, you realise the management does not respect the words said. You will find yourself lobbying for EU institutions and trying to search for new parternship, no matter what your position says. Tasks sometimes goes beyong your own position's requirements simply because the boss does not have any experience and does not know how to manage the work, the team and the whole NGO in Brussels. Even if the people and the boss are friendly this does not mean she is not exlpoiting you and your contacts. Furthermore, she is totally obsessed with receving funds & supports, targeting unfeasibile partners and accusing you if you dont reach the target she put (again, unfeasible, simply because the NGO is not working well and is not managed in the proper way). I would not recommend this experience to anyone who wants to be treated professionally and wants to grow in a professional and transparent environment which this organization is not. These realities should not survive or thrive in the NGO sector.

Pros

Seems like a good mission, although not quite implemented properly. Other interns were great.

Cons

Management doesn't know how to run an NGO, funds are poorly accounted for, zero transparency, many programs are of poor quality, but management doesn't want to do M&E, accountability checks, or any sort of improvement.

Pros

I really loved volunteering in Beirut Lebanon. I learned a lot from the children, youth and women that I taught. SB gives you a truly immersive experience. Volunteers have the opportunity to live, work, and explore with fellow volunteers and staff. You build relationships that will last a lifetime. The feeling of giving to this community is like no other.

Cons

Management is not the best and founder does not appreciate volunteers and staff as much as she should but even with this being the case, it is totally worth it.
