Pros
Benefits- some of the best around... That's about all I can think of.
Cons
Field- People are not regarded as valuable. They tell many that they will work local and be in the office from time to time, many are never in the office, many are hired to be traveling surveyors and live on the road. Most are hired from phone interview only, flown in for onboarding, issued equipment and shipped off to somewhere. Many have come and disappeared immediately with truck and equipment to be found at some hotel doing who knows what before their drug screening results are even returned. HR stays busy hiring and terminating people. Management- is border line bipolar, can go off the deep end with little to any REAL reason. Most people are actually scared to speak up. Management believes they are the smartest people in the room, will speak over you, degrade you and doesn't value peoples opinion. Travel- Doesn't matter to them, you WILL be out of town for months with no opportunity to come home, unless on your dime. Per Diem- depends on who the PM is what you get paid, some GSA rates for cities have been disregarded and minimum GSA rates are paid. Expenses- You pay your lodging and meals first then you're reimbursed about 3 to 4 weeks later. Their pay schedule is almost 2 weeks behind, your work for today will be paid between 3 to 4 weeks form now. They don't really tell you at onboarding any of this.
