Pros

Good perks and the canteen is not bad.

Cons

There are many things I could mention. While I can’t speak for other departments, I can say with certainty that the Human Resources team was one of the most toxic environments I’ve ever been part of. As a foreigner, I experienced clear discrimination. My skills and professional experience were dismissed, and it felt like racial bias played a role. Some colleagues avoided interacting with me entirely—without any explanation. It’s hard not to believe prejudice was involved. When I sought feedback to improve, I was told everything was “okay.” But it clearly wasn’t. I didn’t feel welcomed or supported, and it became obvious that they simply didn’t care. In hindsight, they should have never accepted my application. It would have been better for all of us. I now believe I was hired so the company could appear “diverse and inclusive.” While the organization showcases diversity overall, this was not the case in my team. Sadly, that disconnect is unsurprising given the company’s business model: providing services to corporations exploiting resources in underdeveloped countries. In many ways, SLB struck me as a textbook example of a post-colonial company—something I only came to fully understand through my own experience there. Beyond the discrimination, I also witnessed how apprentices were treated—pushed to their limits in a way that was not just demanding, but outright toxic. Of course, discipline and accountability matter. But not to the point where young professionals are left burned out and sick. That’s not normal. I deeply regret this experience. Still, I’m grateful for one thing: it made it crystal clear what kind of company I never want to work for again.
