Pros
Impactful Experience: Knowing I had a hand in creating the largest anime convention event in North America is incredibly rewarding. Supportive Team: The current team is dedicated and supportive. Everyone helps each other and takes the time to assist if you’re having trouble understanding something. Straightforward Management: Management is direct, similar to a sports coach. They provide clear feedback on mistakes and how to improve, which I appreciate. Collaborative Environment: You can ask anyone questions, and they are always willing to help. Skill Development: You get to learn contract management, including verbiage, deliverables, and using DocuSign. These were new skills for me, and I now have a firm grasp on them. Diversity: The team is very diverse (80-90% POC), making for enjoyable and delicious potlucks.
Cons
Time Management: If you aren’t organized or can’t manage your time well, this role may not be suitable for you. Event Scale: This is the largest gathering of anime fans in North America. If the idea of managing an event of this magnitude is overwhelming, you might want to consider other opportunities. Team Collaboration: If you aren’t a team player, this job will be challenging as teamwork is crucial.
