Pros

Overall, a great company to work for that wants to do the right thing by employees, customers and the general public. I feel good going into work every day for SRP. The benefits and pay are great, and the company truly cares about its employees. Work/life balance is a focus. While SRP is almost like a government entity, we aim to be more innovative than typical government across multiple teams internally. Ideas are welcomed from all areas within the company. There's a reason no one ever leaves -- it's a great place to spend your career! If you get the opportunity to join the team, TAKE IT.

Cons

It's hard to get your foot in the door because no one ever leaves until retirement. Many people come in at positions they're overqualified for just to get in and eventually move up. Moving around does happen, but it's slow for most. Vacation time is a little lacking when you first start, and the anniversaries to get more take a while to get to; I would rather get an extra day every year v. wait until 5 and 13 years to jump to the next stage. It's a big company, so there is some level of politics, but less than other similar-sized organizations.

Pros

SRP gave me stability, experience, and the chance to build real skills. I had positive experiences there, and I’m grateful for parts of it. But I’m also realizing that the environment doesn’t always operate from a positive or growth-minded place, and I have to be honest about what that has cost me

Cons

The con is not that SRP is a bad place. The con is that it can give you stability and experience, but not always a clear or fair feeling of movement. You can give a lot, build a lot, and still feel like you’re waiting for someone to finally see it
