Pros

LOTS of open positions, so you get your pick of what part of the company you want to apply to. Located in a convenient area if you want to run to Costco on a lunch break or after work.

Cons

Did anyone else notice that most of the great reviews on here were from the management staff, and all of the bad reviews were from other employees? SSD is a company where managers are highly respected and everyone else is pretty much ignored, if they're lucky. The entire management board is made up of the family and friends of the CEO, so there is never the opportunity to challenge or question their leadership. Management staff is extremely picky on who they hire, but not known to treat their employees well at all, meaning that staff positions are always empty and people end up doing the work of 2 or 3 people with little to no opportunity for bonuses or raises. More than once I've known of coworkers who were filling in for positions higher than their own, who were then turned down when they applied for the position they were filling because they "weren't qualified enough." Why in the world would a company allow an employee to fill a position for MONTHS, if they weren't qualified to actually hold said position as their job title? Employees are promised when they're hired that there will be opportunities to eventually change their hours or move up within the company or receive much deserved raises, and they work tirelessly to meet management expectation, only to have these promises never fulfilled. Employees are also promised reviews every 6 months to a year, and there is no rhyme or reason as to when they happen. I knew employees who worked in one department that had reviews almost monthly, while other employees had never received a review in the 2+ years that they worked there. Employees are reprimanded for being even 2 minutes late to work in the morning, or for running to the restroom outside of their scheduled 10 minute break in the morning or the afternoon. Management, on the other hand, can be out of the office for hours on end without any of the employees knowing their whereabouts or when they might return. Management also micromanages, and it can be incredibly threatening to be reprimanded by the CEO or a VP rather than the supervisor you report to for very small issues like your time-card. This company can only be described as stifling, and never living up to it's promises.
