Pros

Benefits good. Good basic client base. Many long term clients. Trying to be better. Hackathon is an interesting idea.

Cons

Onboard process was unsatisfactory. It took months for me to get the code for opening the door at my office. Nil training on SSOE methods. My supervisor in Toledo did not pay very close attention to my need for support. Supervisors need to spend more (majority) time working with their people and less focused on projects. Pay on the low side. If one is not a project manager then you are a nobody. Project managers seem, in general, to lack soft skills in working with their project teams. Power group is in particular not team players. Too much management overhead. About 20 years behind major players in deploying 3D design, laser scanning, and design/build strategies for developing work. China is viewed as a low cost supplier of labor and not a place where US based resources can be deployed. I understand China is not well integrated into US work methods and training especially in CAD methods and standards is poor. Young engineers seem to view SSOE as a stepping stone. Old engineers seem to view SSOE as a place to finish their careers. Business seems cyclic, with one or two groups overloaded and other groups underwhelmed. Good from a business levelling perspective - if groups did not work in silos. Management should be more serious about looking at the ideas coming from the Hackathon.
