Pros
Direct management is amazing. They truly care about their staff and want only the best for them. However, C level and HR do not care about you.
Cons
HR is WAY too powerful and routinely makes it clear that the staff as individuals do not matter to them. Staff makes up complaints about other coworkers because they know that HR will not do any background investigation and will not punish them for making false claims. The people who work the hardest and contribute the most are treated the worst, while people who spend most of their time standing at each other's desks talking and disturbing the rest of the office are placed on a pedestal. For a company who's motto is "you are not alone", they certainly make their staff feel like they are. My father died while I was at work, and the company did not acknowledge it at all. No flowers, no sympathy card, nothing. Another coworker lost her newborn and was fired before the funeral. If you are afforded the luxury of working from home, be prepared to purchase and maintain your own work equipment. The company will not provide you with a laptop, a monitor, anything. There is so much turnover in middle management. I have been here 3.8 years and have had 7 directors. Also in this time, I have received one review and one cost of living increase. Insurance premiums are absolutely UNREAL. For a family, insurance is nearly $1000 per paycheck. Any time raises are mentioned, HR states that they cannot afford it, yet they just finished construction on a state of the art office suite for themselves.
