Pros

Friendly Co-workers at the store level. Easy day to day work.

Cons

Corporate doesn’t remotely care about customers or employees and is extremely predatory with pricing for customers. Building is regularly kept very cold and no sweaters are allowed to be worn. I was once scolded for wearing a sweater by a member of corporate who came in for a surprise visit who was wearing a sweater in the store. How is that okay? Corporate refuses to give sweaters unless for a competition between stores and will threaten your job if you wear a sweater otherwise. We’ve been waiting almost 6 months for replacement gear that we need to operate the store properly. Gear is replaced so little the vests and headsets grow mold and mildew on the inside. God forbid something catastrophic happens like the buildings roof caving in from water. The corporate mangers are so scared of their bosses they’d rather put customers health at risk rather than closing the room where the roof fell. Stores are regularly understaffed and even if there are multiple sessions and only 2 guides working they expect one person to double up on work so they can have one person stand alone up front for the slim possibility of a walk in booking. This forces paying customers to be put into their games late because this company prioritizes business it doesn’t have over its paying customers. Let’s not forget the endless amount of bugs and glitches that cause issues for our customers constantly that the game development team never fixes. Which brings me to the Slack tech support team who you are told to report to when something goes wrong and the Slack tech team is undertrained and takes anywhere 20-30 mins to fix a single issue keep in mind a customers game only last 30 mins. This lack of urgency then gets shoved on to you by the customer, even if your doing everything in your ability to help them. One of the metrics you’ll be held to by corporate is the number of reviews you get with the incentive (you are told) being, for every review you get you’ll get $5 will be added to your paycheck. I have just over 300 5 star reviews at my store and have only made $350 sorry but that maths not mathing. When this is brought up to management you are told there is a reward cap for each store and if your not getting any money that means the cap has been reached. Keep in mind if you don’t get reviews your job or your managers job will be threatened. What they don’t tell you when you’re hired and is not part of your job description is that your expected to make sales metrics as well on overpriced one time use add on weapons for the game. As well as snack boxes ranging in price from $25-$55 with maybe $15 worth of snacks in any of them. They also only measure the metrics of the sales made in stores not the sales made through our website. They expect all of this, but don’t give any sort of sales training upon hiring. Corporate will integrate new systems without testing for bugs causing mass problems company wide and stores and employees are expected to just make do with a little to no training on how to fix the new systems. I have never witnessed such a severe disconnect between the work that is actually required to do a job in store and the work that corporate expects to be done. You will also be told that this company promotes internally but that’s only if the person who is promoting isn’t scared of their boss. I’ve never worked for a company who cares more about appearing as a team then actually being a team. We have a chat called OnlyStores that connects all the stores and it’s supposed to be there to “Celebrate your wins” but if you don’t participate in their chat and post things like “I sold a water!” “Just booked a walk-in” literally just bragging about doing your job they will threaten either yours or your managers job. This company only looks at the things you do wrong and doesn’t care about how hard you work or how good you are at your job. The only thing corporate cares about is their bottom dollar and do you fit the idea of what the company should be in their heads. Corporate will also expect you to be able to take care of things that are way outside your job description such as painting their store, fixing chips in the wall, or knowing how to fix a bathroom door because they refuse to spend the extra money to do things correctly. They just expect these entry-level kids to know how to do everything with little to no instruction.

It's fun; you can learn a lot, and you can meet people.

Management is horrible; we're not able to receive new batteries so the store can operate properly & have consistent tech issues.
