Pros

A lot of good people at Sane, really enjoyed my time there. It does teach you and give you the experience in your CV for anyone trying to get into fashion. Opportunities to connect with various individuals with vast networks but you need to put yourself out there. A lot of fun.

Cons

Very little chance to nonexistent chance of progression within a higher role. If you’re an intern, 9/10 chance that you’re just gonna churn out the work and get the experience and that’s it. Interns should be given more of an opportunity to do admin work rather than pulls. No after-work culture, everyone is there to work and do their own thing.

Pros

This was my very first experience working in the fashion PR sector. It was nice being given an opportunity despite only having 'educational' experience. It gave me a nice insight into how a PR agency worked. They had good brands, one womenswear and one menswear showrooms which made it easier to organise everything. I met both founders, and though they were not that physically present at the company, they were both very kind to me.

Cons

The downside of working there was the bullying culture. Unfortunately, I worked there at the same time with two other interns who clearly hated my guts. Because I was knew, I wasn't aware that they were just interns and nothing more, so they took advantage of that and often gave me tasks which later on I found out that it was not my job to do. For example, whilst I was on reception duty, one intern told me that it was my job to wash the dishes just so everything "looked presentable". As I was washing them two employees came up and told me "you're not supposed to do that". The showroom manager at the time, was really nice at the beginning but then they began to avoid any conversation with me. I genuinely sensed that it was the other two interns who put ideas into their head, and they decided to jump on the bandwagon rather that speaking to me about it. In addition I was blamed for things that were not my fault, and when they thought I was to blame for something, instead of telling me how to rectify things, they just simply cut off all communication with me. Meanwhile another intern on their last day speech literally said: "sorry for my mistakes" and the same people who were not speaking to me said: "oh no, it's okay". Why I was treated differently, I can only assume.
