Pros
The culture of this company is like none other I've worked for. It comes from the ethic of the original founders who were hard working, get the job done, type people. They put a lot of effort into training employees to adapt a similar attitude and they prefer you to work here until you retire. Also, because the company is privately owned and not publicly traded there are very few decisions that are based on "maximizing profit" for this quarter. This company understands that there is more to business then constantly trying to maximize profit. You can't measure everything and you can't always make decisions on what you can measure only.
Cons
Because the company's primary source of revenue is transporting raw materials things like oil price fluctuations can affect an operation quite a bit. That said, I've heard from numerous people where when one operation was downsized they were allowed to move to another one instead of being laid off.
