Pros

Great people constantly striving for improvement, a small team means your work has a real impact, lots of snacks and free lunch!

Cons

A small team means an emergency might drag you into some work when you would otherwise be off, but the flexibility otherwise makes it very manageable.

Pros

Scalyr is in many ways the "anti-Silicon Valley" company (even though they're based in Silicon Valley). A few things stand out: * Age-diverse -- even on a small team of ~10, there are folks in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s. * Work-life balance -- they do NOT subscribe to the work-is-life philosophy that so many venture-funded companies in SV have. Employees generally all go home at 6pm to their families, and nobody is expected to be on email at any other than then regular work hours. Of course some people chose to work at off-hours, but there's no expectation, obligation, or peer pressure to do so. Of course there are also great things that fall into the SV stereotypes that also make Scalyr great -- the team is wickedly smart and discussions in the office are always at a high level -- from science fiction to politics to world news to TV/movies to the headlines on Hacker News to the latest XKCD. The work is great fun -- there's plenty of autonomy, the product is excellent, and the sophistication of both co-workers and customers is extremely high. And, lastly but certainly not least - the outlook is bright. There's plenty of cash in the bank, they've found solid product-market fit, growth is strong, and the team is growing (notable - for now - that customer churn is negative and no employees have left.) Obviously it would be foolish to expect those numbers to last forever, but for now it's great fun to be relishing in them. All in all, a wonderful group and wonderful company.

Cons

Literally none I can think of. Trying. Cannot.

Thanks for such positive feedback! You're describing exactly the culture I'd *hoped* we'd build at Scalyr... it's great to see it actually taking root. This has been an amazing journey so far and it's only getting better. -- Steve (founder / CEO)
