Pros
As many people have said the only benefits to this job are exposure to a clinical environment and an opportunity to learn how doctor's do their medical decision making . I would recommend, however, that if you are a pre-med, PA, or nursing student that you try to find a job that is actually a part of a patient care team. You'll learn just as much if not more by doing hands-on experience.
Cons
This job has very little autonomy and how your shifts go are largely dependent on the physician you are with that day. This job is a convenience for the provider but not a necessity which means you are not an inessential part of the hospital team and at times you will be treated as such. Additionally, poor pay and no benefits goes without saying.
