Pros

Getting rescues diver certified. Meeting and working with all my co-workers. Getting to go scuba diving for free in the Keys.

Cons

I have never work at a more unprofessional place. The management team was a total nightmare to work with and they literally treated their employees like slaves. I worked there during their summer camp program and have never worked harder at a job I hated. During our month of staff training, that we had before the campers arrived, (which they're so proud of and gloat about all the time) they taught us more about how not to get Seacamp sued than actually how to work as a good camp councilor. Seacamp puts more effort into covering their butts from lawsuits than they even come close to putting into making the camp an awesome time for campers to learn about the ocean and enjoy the Florida Keys. The education level of the marine science camp is sub par at best and it leaves tons of pressure on the science instructors that they hire and just throw into the positions with hardly any preparations. There's no wifi on property and the only way to access it is to spend your minimal time off sitting in a bar that has free wifi. I would have quit on my second day if I could have but unfortunately they trick us into a verbal contract that doesn't specifically spell out this: if you quit or get fired before your contract ends you have to pay Seacamp back for the money that they spent on certifying you in first aid, lifeguarding, rescue diver, ect. which adds up to be somewhere around $3000. When I only got paid $1450 for the entire summer working from 7am-11pm in the hot sun with no air conditioning everyday, I was not about to pay Seacamp for anything.
