Pros
There is great partnership and teamwork within individual teams and cross functionally. The people at Sears really do care and want to see the company succeed. Great ability to showcase your skills and put new thoughts into practice.
Cons
The relentless layoffs and store closings drive dismal moral. There is a constant dark cloud of "am I next?". As the team shrinks, the workload does not, leading to even lower moral for those left to accomplish those tasks, There are no annual pay increases, very expensive heath benefits, no 401k match, and mostly worthless associate "discount" program based on membership points rather than price reductions. The focus is nearly 100% on the development of the "Shop Your Way" online program, and very little attention given to the physical stores. It is pretty clear that the CEO (who owns the majority of the company) is in it as a real estate investment opportunity, rather than building a driving a world-class retailer.
