Pros
I enjoy working with animals. Co-workers are dedicated, selfless super heroes, who ask for nothing in return. They are truly amazing people.
Cons
The organization is really messed up in many ways. Starting from the CEO, he hates the volunteers and the employees. There is zero respect for the people who work every day to save animal lives. He often refers to them in inappropriate language. COO likes to create some of the most absurd rules in the shelter, and cares only about the live-release rate, which is heavily altered by the fact that we only take in healthy animals. Transfer in only healthy animals, we adopt them out, and bam, we have 98% live-release rate. She also likes to threaten people, and witch hunt employees. There has been such high turnover rate in veterinarians, vet techs, and vet assistants the last 12 months due to their poor leadership, and general lack of respect. This is very cliche now, but the leadership thinks we're all replaceable. Finally, the Human Resources is not really Human Resources. You can talk to her about our issues, but she has no power over anything. Because the CEO, CFO, and COO control everything here. Including the HR.
