Great Experience, expect to rely on previous round of interns - Intern Senator Feinstein Employee Review

Pros

Learned a lot about public service and caseworking. Great work environment with friendly people. Not as stressful as you'd expect for an administrative job for a senator.

Cons

The training from staff will not be enough in a lot of cases. The staff are too busy to go into depth about everything and nothing is organized in an intuitive way. Lots of protocol is given through word of mouth and "the guy before me did it this way" speculation so things become a game of telephone really quickly. Get the contacts of previous interns and ask them questions as you progress through the internship and it would save you massive amounts of time.

Pros

- taught me what I don't want out of a career - the office space was kinda nice

Cons

- strict management (at least in the LA office) — have to ask to go to the bathroom, yelled at when ~2 minutes late, discouraged from socializing, etc. - largely geared towards younger interns/people who don't know what a healthy workplace looks like - only a few hours of work to do each day, but expected to "be productive" the whole time - interns get very little actual responsibility, and no say in any decisions made or deliverables that go out - as a current career professional who has worked at prominent DC organizations, I had 7 internships during college and all were better than this one ... by a lot unfortunately - (will admit that I'm not sure if this is a larger problem across all DF offices or just this one — or an issue with just the management I had)
