Pros

it was a great place initially, There was a initial joining bonus

Cons

Company has hired way too many managers and people with below average skills, thereby reducing the overall intellect of the teams. There are Engineering managers who are clueless about anything that's happening. Only thing they know is jira ticket is not moving. The directors know only to copy paste comments, but add no real value to the teams. CTO is the most arrogant person who enforces his sub-standard solutions without even considering it's pros and cons. Earlier we were using Golang in most projects, CTO forced everyone to switch to python just because he feels python is good. Real talented people have no growth here, if you can sugar coat well and just write some sub-standard code, you will find this place good. All good folks have started to leave. More are going to leave in coming months.

Pros

There are some truly amazing folks that work at Sequoia. They work really hard and many truly care about the work they are doing. Even when things get out of hand, the teams band together to help each other through whatever new debacle comes their way. And there is always a new debacle. Pay is higher than most…

Cons

Layoffs at random with no warning and little to no communication to those directly affected by it. If you’re a manager or above, you’ve received middle of the night unhinged emails that make for an anxiety inducing day/week/month ahead. In 6 years I had 8 managers for 3 roles (2 were within the same team)…If a manager tries to reign in crazy expectations or pivots so they don’t derail an entire team, they tend to disappear. Pay is higher than most but not enough for what is expected emotionally and physically.
