Pros
-Great for networking - Very gratifying work, the chance to help people and make a difference - An excellent part-time job for people interested in a medical/health-related field - Flexible schedule - Every day is different, many fun and exciting moments here - Meals provided during shift
Cons
- Minimum wage despite amount of training required and nature of work - Many staff have a poor work ethic and negligent attitude towards their job (or in some, outright prison-guard mentality), compromising quality of care. This is often not addressed by management or supervisors until multiple reports have been made and can lead to hostile workplace. - Depending on the site, the work can be very hard for the salary received. May include bathing, toileting, cooking, cleaning, and assisting mentally or physically impaired clients. Some are aggressive. -
