Pros

Decent pay Work is easy enough A lot of flexibility with hours. I worked 30 hours a week during the summer and now work 15 during the school year. Freedom to transfer to other departments after being there for over a year or so Great part time job training for high school kids

Cons

Managers play favorites all the time. They always side with the same people. Very early on, it becomes pretty obvious who they like and who they can't stand. I have arbitrarily been spoken to about doing things that I have seen countless other employees get away with. Shaw's is seeing tough times right now. So there are less hours available, yet my manager expects us to do more work now. Alot of the coworkers (especially the ones who have been there for over a decade) are jerks. Many will act nice to you, to your face, but then complain about you behind your back. It seems like we are always out of something. Makes the work harder than it has to be. The union barely has a presence here. I didn't know who our steward was until after a year in the store. Listening to the same songs on the radio day after day might get to you after a while.
