$10-$12 per hour is above minimum wage, but still not livable for those that aren't management. They work you like dogs, and for the amount of work you actually do, the previously stated pay is not enough. The point system for call-offs is stupid and this is coming from somebody who has never even received a point. They tell you don't come in if you're sick, but yet you'll get points if you call off for being sick. If you get so many points, you're fired automatically. My current store is understaffed and employees are SO overworked. People call off DAILY, and those that do show up are left to cover the work of 2+ people. My current store gets SO much business and customer traffic, and because we are so understaffed, we get treated like absolute garbage by customers who expect their food orders to be completed out of order. Of course we are not allowed to ever say anything negative in response to customers, thus accepting being demeaned and treated like trash. Employees are forced to work all holidays and weekends, and schedules are never consistent in the first place. You will NEVER be able to leave early and most days you are there at least 5-10 min after your scheduled shift. 50% off food while you are working, but only 10% off when you are not for crappy food. Not all employees are held to the same standards of work, so there are always people who are allowed to slack off and others who are not and have to make up for what others don't do. There are so many strict rules to follow in the kitchen, and some district managers and Q/A people are so intimidating and rude to employees. Customers will expect you to be as fast as Mc Donald's regardless of how busy the store is, and regardless of the fact that Sheetz is NOT a fast food joint. They call you all the time if people call off to see if you'll come in and work, which doesn't leave you a separation between work life and home life. I'm a college student who is full-time over college breaks and summers, but I can't get tuition reimbursement because I don't meet their strict, specific work hour requirements preceding my application. No store that is open on Christmas and other major holidays cares about their employees. Keep the gas pumps working, but it is absolutely ridiculous that the store is open and running and employees are scheduled on major holidays.
