Hospital is perpetually understaffed; people come and go very quickly (high turnover rate among staff); frequent mandation, so I end up working 60+ hours per week when I was hired for 40; also, the pay feels too low for the amount of work we do...we are part of nursing staff and so are in constant contact with patients, providing support and mediation, crisis intervention and positive reinforcement; we run groups, etc. Our pay is between $21,000 and $25,000 a year, though. It is an entry-level position so we are discouraged from taking sick days; if you don't have PTO you have to go without pay for that day. Also they don't really care if you have family emergencies -- you will be fired if you choose to leave in such circumstances. Also, not much room for growth.
