Pros

I've been in the industry a long time and it goes without saying that Sift Media is a rare breed: an amazingly supportive and creative environment, staffed by people who REALLY care about what they do - hence pretty low staff turnover. Great collaboration between teams to try to make the sites the best they can be and challenging the status quo is actively encouraged. We also have volunteer groups called Sift Greener looking at reducing the company's environmental impact and Sift Cares looking at our CSR and looking at allow employees to work with charities on company time. Flexible hours...also, two company wide parties per year and life insurance cover - not linked to party antics hopefully ;)

Cons

Personal frustrations include the fact that it's a bit slow getting things through the dev team when I've got clients wanting new formats etc. like yesterday. They are upstaffing and implementing a new Publishing platform, so hopefully this will be quicker in the future. Salary is also probably on the low end of average for the most part

Pros

Good people on some teams with experience to pass on and help you with. Shifts are good as you can use leave to get more time off

Cons

Not a chance for promotion. If you do get the chance it's an online test which you can cheat on and then an interview which your mates can tell you what to expect.

This review may have been confused with a different company as we do not operate shifts and have never used online tests.

Pros

The company dutifully maintains a supportive and empowering work environment. They've given me the space to identify and focus on my strengths in my new role, and offer me full support in the areas where I'm weaker. Nearly all of my colleagues seem to love their jobs and are dedicated to the company. That's pretty unusual in my experience, and also really inspiring.

Cons

The parent company is located in the UK, with smaller extension companies throughout the US. Working in a small, remote office, it can be challenging to maintain a sense of camaraderie and connection with the other teams. But that's at no fault of the people who work here. It's just the nature of long-distance communication.
