Lower pay compared to larger districts, fewer opportunities for advancement, some administrators out of touch.

Some amazing educators who are very dedicated to their students' growth and well-being. I so appreciate the amazing principal I worked for who authentically cared about teachers as individuals while still challenging us to stretch professionally. Wish all administrators could grasp this approach.

Unfortunately, there was/is a different principal whose interest is in maintaining authority and a sense of (false) admiration by staff than in supporting student growth. The staff members who socialized with this principal or participated in inappropriate conversations were treated like part of a special group of friends. Students missed out when many highly-dedicated staff members retired early or left for other opportunities after working in this environment.
