Pros

Casual environment, great coworkers, opportunities for remote work. Solid benefits plan.

Cons

About three months ago, a round of lay offs occurred, almost entirely within backend departments. My team was left to scramble to pick up the pieces- with only 3 workers left to contend with a full call center. Myself and other supervisors were never informed, I only found out about what happened in a personal text from one of my team that had been let go. We weren't given any time to plan for the aftermath, or to say good bye. They didn't even announce the layoffs to the company until later, after they had already happened! This feels to me, disrespectful to employees and incredibly unprofessional. At the same time, the company has gone on a spree recruiting new sales agents, and pushing for more and more deals. This has left myself and my much smaller team overworked and demoralized, leaving us to deal with rapidly expanding amounts of work. Since then, we have been give barely any support. When asked what was needed to help improve, my suggestions were basically laughed off. In fact when I mentioned bringing up the fact that turnarounds will be longer and we should cascade this to other teams, I was specifically told we can't "because it would look bad". While, we are struggling, I see executives buying fancy cars and the company splurging on fancy trips... but, I also see bills not being paid, and receive directives to cut costs within my department. Two years ago, I would have called Simpay a great place to work, a place where everyone truly card about each other and the customer. Today, it feels that the only thing that has grown with the company are its executive's egos. I am sad to leave many friends behind, but not as sad as I was when I found out that Simpay doesn't respect me or my team.

Simpay Response

Let me start by saying that our work culture encourages feedback, even and especially critical feedback. By giving space for our more than one hundred-fifty employees to bring concerns, issues, challenges, and successes to the forefront, we learn, grow, adapt, and co-create a better workplace for everyone. Over the past two years, Simpay has grown tremendously. Sales and revenue generation often take center stage because it’s clear and obvious if our sales activities are growing, maintaining, or diminishing. The same is true when it comes to how many employees we have, the growth trend is easy to plot. Just a few short years ago, we had forty employees, primarily located in Pennsylvania, and today we have more than one hundred-fifty employees, spread across the United States. As a responsible, growing company, we regularly assess the strength of the business as a whole, and drill down into each department to see if we’re overstaffed, understaffed, and which resources we need to invest in, so each segment of our business has the chance to thrive. While our sales and revenue growth have certainly been impressive, the increases are only a fraction of what we’re aiming for. To that end, we’re constantly re-investing our profits back into Simpay. In the last year alone, we’ve bolstered our infrastructure spending, adding in layers of technology and automation to simplify our business processes. We’ve also added support staff across all areas of the company, when additions were required, and we've course corrected in areas that were less efficient, overstaffed, or out of balance with the rest of the organization. We’ve also celebrated our successes. We held two events that highlighted Simpay’s best and brightest. In May of 2022, we invited more than a hundred people to visit Philadelphia for our first Simpay Summit. Vendors, partners, sales channels, support teams, and operational staff all participated in a multi-day gathering designed to share knowledge, and forge even deeper ties among our teams. In April of 2023, we held our inaugural President’s Club to honor the top ten percent of our company. Unlike many organizations, we recognized Operational excellence as well as Sales excellence. The hefty investment in these kinds of gatherings are both an acknowledgement of our current successes and a downpayment on our broader company vision. As always, we appreciate your time with Simpay and your feedback.
