      Pros

      This is a very special place to work, where you really have the opportunity to positively impact your client's lives. It is mostly Legal Aid funded work so the clients are often vulnerable themselves, and we were taught to really take seriously our responsibility to them, as well as the case. The management are all driven by a sense of justice and care, which was really inspiring to work alongside. They are also keen to keep and develop anyone who is passionate about the work.

      Cons

      Some of the cases are quite upsetting, so you have to be able to switch off at the end of the day.

      Friendly, supportive team with a great culture Approachable management and team leaders Good opportunities for career progression Senior management have recently been making an effort to listen to employees and make improvements, but progress is extremely slow

      Salaries are very low for the market, and salary increases are tiny They struggle with retention so there is a high turnover of colleagues Terrible IT

      Pros

      Still early days for me at Simpson Millar but thoroughly enjoyed the role so far. High quality cases, lovely staff, good pay and remote working.
