Pros

You get to set your hours.

Cons

Pay sucks. You do a lot of driving and work for free or little pay. $35 for service call and you have to drive 100 miles before you get mileage. Inventory is a joke and the way they have you count each week instead of having a software program is a joke. And the crew in inventory treats you like your trying to screw them out of equipment. And if you over count they add it without you knowing but if you're short all hell breaks lose if you don't jump when they say jump, you are a grease spot on the bottom of there shoe, and you get no pay for your time dealing with them. Company competitions are a joke they can spend thousands on trips but can't afford to pay you more or get a good inventory program, Payroll can be late not problem but if you miss anything it's deducted and if your over booked and can't make and appointment or for got. They charge you a 100% of what you were going to make. Payroll has banker hours and you never can get a hold of them to get straight answer. And if they take something by mistake you will never see it again. Mileage you have to drive yourself 150 miles before you get a dime. So at mileage rate set by the U.S government you do one install 75 miles away, you get $150 for install but it cost you $97.50 for you to get there. You make $52.50 for 2 hour install driving 3 hours. So now you have made a total of $10.50 and hour but the kick between the legs is you get taxed on $150 after taxes takes 33% $49.50 you clear a grand total of $3. And by the hour that is $0.60 and hour. Now they will say they will get second install close. Cool you just made 3 dollars and now $150 for second install minus taxes $49.50 you clear $103.50 for 8 hours work and driving. So you cleared $12.76 an hour. Can you live off that because the smoke a mirrors will disappear when you get your pay check. And then you have the Sales Reps that want you to work for free. And they want to use crap used equipment so they can save a dollar. But are unwilling to pay you extra to deal with the extra time it takes to use it. The time I spent at Skyline I now know I should have demanded hourly wages and a car. Let them carry the over head and gas and insurance. Oh ya Insurance you need to carry extra insurance for equipment in car and let insurance know your using your car for work that means rates almost double. And don't forget your an independent so you pay your own health insurance and workmans comp. KY jelly time.
