Pros

I strongly believed in the products that my team was working on, very interesting and innovating. What kept me going back to work every day with excitement was people: extremely kind and talented colleagues, clients and end users. I took strong ownership of my product.

Cons

There was no formal path for professional growth even though most of us had taken on significantly more responsibilities over time. Compensation was significantly lower than the market rate.

Pros

Everyone outside of upper management is absolutely phenomenal. Great people who are passionate about what they do, and work endlessly for the greater good of improving education. The mission of the company is strong, and a good product as well. Smart Sparrow is a good place to get your feet wet in the ed-tech space. It’s a company that really prides itself on innovation, which you can really see in their flagship products/projects. Smart Sparrow is a good place to learn how to work with many roles: graphic designers, engineers, sales and marketing, learning designers, project managers, and more. You really get to learn a bit about each of these jobs. Smart Sparrow is also a good place to work if you’d like to learn about customer success, since the majority of the SF roles are in services. You can learn a great deal, and will work with some phenomenally driven people.

Cons

No incentive structure for quality work, and no structure in place for growth. The company handles change poorly, and has lost its culture along the way due to ineffective management and treating employees with little respect through these org changes. The company at large has done very little to verify their approach and impact. This is not a data-driven company. They will tell you they are the best platform and have the best design process, but aren’t able to back it up with any hard evidence.
